Handshake: Daniel, give us a TL;DR on you!

Daniel: Hello, everyone! My name is Daniel Park, senior at the University of Southern California. I was born in South Korea, immigrated to Georgia and lived there for 13 years, and now am in LA for school. I love to play soccer, basketball, hang out with friends, go and serve at church, and love creating videos and shooting photos.

How did you decide what to study, and what's your dream job?

Honestly, I came into USC as a political science major. In high school, I was very involved in my local and state politics. However, I just lost interest in it and therefore I was looking for a new major. I heard from someone that Journalism is a major that is applicable to many different fields, so that is why I am majoring in Journalism! My dream job is to work for myself as a content creator. So far, I have been freelancing for other creators, artists, and athletes, but I am hoping to make the transition over to being in front of the camera more often.

How have you used Handshake in your job search and/or academic journey?

Handshake has given me so many opportunities to interview with companies such as Beats by Dre, Warner Bros, and more! Although I did not ultimately get the job, I made it pretty far and gained a lot of experience all thanks to Handshake.

What's your biggest advice/tip/hack for an aspiring creator who's hoping to build their personal brand on Handshake?

We all want to be perfect, but that fear of not being perfect can steer us away from creating, especially when we see other people’s products. However, if this fear stalls us from creating, it won’t ever allow us to polish our skills. So, honestly, I am taking this advice to heart too, but we all just gotta just do it and make videos, have fun, and look back and laugh at how much we improved.

Give us two truths and a lie about you!

  1. I like school.
  2. I love fashion.
  3. I am stuck in the Apple ecosystem.
