My co-founders and I started Handshake out of a deeply felt personal pain: that while talent is distributed evenly, opportunity is not. Our mission is to help every student find a great job and build the foundations of a meaningful career, no matter who they are, where they’re from or who they know. And that mission has never been more important as students confront an employment landscape turned upside down by the global pandemic.
Handshake today is the largest career network for early talent in the US, bringing together over 7 million active students, 500,000+ employers and 1,000+ higher education partners. We recently announced our $80M Series D funding round that will accelerate our efforts to serve an expanded universe of students and build innovative solutions that revolutionize how employers hire early talent to build a truly diverse workforce. We are growing our reach to serve the more than 6 million students who are enrolled in community colleges and bootcamps, and are rapidly expanding into the UK. With campuses closed and the shift to a majority-remote recruiting environment, we have become the leading virtual platform for early talent. In the five months since we introduced our virtual solution, we have helped over 600,000 students connect with over 24,000 employers through our virtual fairs experience. I couldn’t be more proud of our team’s work to help students, employers and our higher education partners succeed in spite of the year’s unprecedented challenges.

Senior Software Engineer
This role focuses deeply on building a high-quality, high-impact product that is used by millions of college students, thousands of higher education partners, and hundreds of thousands of employers. Our engineering team really brings our “Learn, Grow, Repeat” company value to life, constantly evolving and innovating to create a better, faster platform for our users. As Senior Software Engineer (Platform), you’d kick off with a few key projects to help impact Handshake’s mission:
- Helping to evolve our overall application architecture, applying concepts from domain-driven design and other architectural patterns to build a scalable architectural foundation for product teams.
- Designing, developing, and deploying performant APIs that provide core services to product engineering teams.
- Refactoring systems, services, and tools to better handle increases in volume and scale.

Recruiter
Our people are the lifeblood of Handshake. As a Recruiter, you’ll be directly responsible for the critical work of building our team. Handshakers are talented, passionate people who believe deeply in our mission of bringing greater equity to the job searching process. You’ll lead recruiting strategies, implementing and iterating recruiting processes and best practices, creatively sourcing amazing talent, and building key stakeholder relationships all while working with a curious, kind and passionate team committed to providing a best-in-class candidate experience. Enterprise Account Executive (Employer)
As an Enterprise Account Executive on the Employer team, you’ll showcase Handshake as the premier way for top brands to recruit emerging college talent. You will be responsible for helping grow the Handshake business through new accounts while deepening existing customer relationships and helping Handshake hit growth and attainment targets. If you’re energetic, relationship-driven, and ready to hop in the sales saddle at an incredibly high-growth company, this might be the job for you!
Senior Product Designer (Enterprise & Student)
As Senior Product Designer either on our enterprise or student teams, you’ll work from concept to delivery to inform product strategy and shape user experience. You’ll partner with teammates across the Handshake org, like our product, research, and engineering teams, to ensure projects are well-defined, high impact, and successfully executed. You’ll also work to develop and improve a shared product design language across all product surfaces reflective of our brand, helping really define the Handshake experience for millions of students and recent graduates.
