As we start this New Year, we want to express our gratitude to the many of you who have helped us this past year by:

  • partnering with us to innovate within the industry.
  • providing us valuable insight by talking with us at national and regional conferences.
  • having the opportunity to talk directly about your workflows and goals.

Together, we are helping to reinvent and reshape the way students and employers connect. Here are our highlights from 2015, along with some exciting plans for 2016!

2015: A Retrospective

Significant Growth

Today, Handshake is present on more than 65 college and university campuses, and we have more than 200,000 student users of our system. In fact, we exceeded our 2015 university implementation goals by more than double. To support this growth, we have added 18 new members to the Handshake team.

Consistent Reliability

Our commitment to reliability paid off in 2015, with Handshake maintaining more than 99.98% server uptime during calendar 2015. While we’re proud of this metric, we plan to improve upon our system reliability in the upcoming year.

Strong Leadership

Our leadership team has expanded significantly this year, with several key hires playing integral roles in growing our customer-base, managing our staff, and organizing our internal teams. These hires include:

Brian Reath

Brian Reath, Director of University Customer Success

Brian’s varied background includes past roles within product management, software development, customer success, and operations. Prior to joining Handshake, he was a software developer at CoverMyMeds, an innovative healthcare startup, and led the Managed Services division of CCI Systems, a Cisco service provider partner. Brian has enabled us to provide a consistent, positive customer experience that spans the entire customer lifecycle from sales to implementation to ongoing customer partnerships.

Jonathan Stull

Jonathan Stull, Head of Business

Jonathan brings significant experience helping to build great mobile software and large, fast-growing businesses. Previously, he led business development and partnerships at Flipboard, the mobile newsreader, and led consumer product development and growth channels at Lookout, the mobile security company. Jonathan will focus on building our employer software and help us scale our product organization to provide world-class software to all of our customers.

Jeff Beavers

Jeff Beavers, Sr. Leadership Team

Jeff has nearly 20 years experience in campus recruiting and recruitment software, working with such companies as Whirlpool Corp, GE, RECSOLU, and AbbVie, and he has 6 years experience as a Career Services Director at the University of Illinois. His experience and expertise will help us ensure our product roadmap supports the needs of career services, students, and employers.

New San Francisco Headquarters

We recently established new headquarters in San Francisco in an exciting workspace that fosters creativity, provides access to talent to support our growth, and that puts us in close proximity to investors and advisors. These benefits are allowing us to more rapidly bring you amazing new features and software products.

2016: Resolutions

Make New Friends!

We have the capacity, resources, and capability to successfully bring Handshake to many additional campuses in 2016. We plan to expand the Handshake community significantly. While we would like to provide unlimited access to our software, we are also committed to customer success and want to ensure we exceed expectations when it comes to user experience.

Gain Weight!

We are strategically expanding our customer success teams to meet the growing demand and to ensure we provide best-in-class service and implementation support to all of our partners.

Invest More!

We have invested nearly $3.2M in the last 3 years to ensure our software platform is superior to the competition. We plan to increase our investments significantly in 2016. We have built many key differentiators within our products to date and have many more planned for you!

Commit to Continuous Innovation!

We’re tripling the size of our engineering team in 2016 and are growing our product and design teams significantly. We aim to accelerate our already rapid pace of innovation, allowing us to more quickly satisfy your workflow needs, delight you with ease-of-use, and enable you to more efficiently accomplish your goals.
