Frequently Asked Questions

What is the HBCU Legacy Bowl?

The HBCU Legacy Bowl, presented by the Black College Football Hall of Fame, is a postseason all-star game showcasing the best NFL draft-eligible football players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). It is broadcasted live on NFL Network. More than a football game, the week-long celebration of Black culture and history provides invaluable exposure and opportunity for HBCU students. As part of the week-long celebration, the HBCU Legacy Bowl held an in-person Career Fair, which provided job opportunities and career counseling for juniors and seniors from HBCUs, and featured expert panels, motivational speakers and direct interaction with national and statewide corporate partners.

Both! Check out the full list of employers and filter for organizations hiring for full-time or part-time jobs and internships.

How do virtual career fairs work on Handshake?

One of the biggest benefits of attending a virtual career fair is that you can sign up for sessions before the fair starts. Once you’re registered for the fair, sign up for group or 1-on-1 sessions with employers you’re interested in.

  • Group sessions are primarily for employers to share more about their organizations and answer any questions you have.
  • 1-on-1 sessions are 10-minute conversations between you and an employer to discuss your background and experience, as well as current job and internship opportunities.

Once in a session, you can interact with employers via video, audio, or text based chat.

Can I attend the virtual fair using my phone or tablet? A laptop or desktop?

All of the above. If using a mobile device, we recommend downloading the Handshake app on Google Play or the App Store (rated 4.6+ stars on each) for a better user experience. You can also attend the fair using a web browser on a laptop or desktop (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge).

I’ve never attended a virtual career fair before. How do I prepare?

We recommend making an appointment with your school’s career center to brush up your resume and get tips for meeting employers virtually.
