Stackable wins
Building our network, launch by launch in 2024
At Handshake, we believe in “stackable wins”—small, meaningful improvements that build over time. We don’t wait and hoard what we’re building, we ship a win and then add to it over time.
With this ethos we deliberately show our work, not waiting til it’s perfect but adding value to our users’ lives as soon as we can—and then continuing to add value throughout the year.
The releases below are a compilation of the stackable wins from this year to our entire three-sided marketplace: early career job seekers, college career centers, and employers hiring their future workforce.
Personalization, so everything gets more relevant
Everyone’s career journey is unique—for those who are just starting the journey, it can be uniquely confusing. To help, Handshake provides a space for career centers and potential employers to guide candidates with personalized and relevant opportunities, events, and advice.
Career center collections
By creating unique collections that speak to their student population and college brand, career centers can guide their students to relevant jobs and employers (and, soon, events and posts).
Dynamic campaign targeting
Dynamic targeting helps employers create campaigns that resonate, reaching the right talent with the right message at the right time with AI-powered assistance.
Employer homepage
The redesigned homepage gives employers tailored guidance on the best next step to get the most out of their recruitment efforts and suggestions of great candidates to reach out to for open positions.
Redesigned job cards
What good is a great job recommendation if you can’t tell it’s great? We redesigned job cards and pages so candidates can see the details that matter most—pay, location, benefits, and more—at a glance.
Boosted job relevance and controls
Your job search is infinitely easier if you don’t have to dig for the best jobs—so we’re quietly making our recommendations even better and giving job seekers even more explicit controls that help them tell Handshake what they want more (or less) of.
Establish your professional identity and build community
This year, Handshake became the better network to inspire your career and propel you forward. By making it easy for job seekers, employers, and schools to find and connect with one another, we’ve set the foundation for a thriving, actually-helpful professional community.
Enhanced profile page
It’s important to represent yourself authentically, especially in a professional setting, so we redesigned the Handshake profile to give job seekers more space to demonstrate their personality and unique background.
Employer Relationship Management
Employer Relationship Management (ERM) helps career center teams grow their networks and strengthen their employer relationships, leading to more tailored programming and more unique opportunities for students.
The Handshake feed
The feed helps job seekers connect with potential employers, grow their network, and learn more about career paths—from initial exploration to application to success after you’ve landed the job.
Share info, get intel, and discover your path
Employers and career services professionals have a ton of information job seekers want. From insider info on how to ace a case interview, to what it’s really like to work as a forest engineer, sharing this information on Handshake helps job seekers uncover career paths they didn’t even realize were available to them.
Company brand pages
Create a strong employer brand presence where Gen Z actively seeks career inspiration, positioning your company as the go-to place for top talent in a dynamic, personalized space.
Sponsored content
Employers who are serious about helping job seekers connect with their brand can partner with Handshake to target their content, reaching the right audience with employee spotlights, day in the life videos, and more.
Career center resources
Resources make it easy for career centers to share eye-catching career content that showcases their expertise to job seekers—with new enhanced reporting to understand what’s resonating most.
New job seeker home
The explore-style homepage presents job seekers with a universally helpful experience, no matter where they are in their career search, with easy to find career content, jobs, events, and career center help from one page.
And wait, there’s more
We did a lot of other things, too—we talked to job seekers, met with customers, went to conferences, traveled to schools, and made lots and lots of feed content.
We loved to see you in 2024
